Our Costa Rican ambassador, Jimena Medrano, shares her journey through her passion for show jumping and her future plans in the equestrian world.
From her first time in the saddle at the age of nine to her ambition of representing Costa Rica on an international level, Jimena Medrano has built her equestrian path with dedication and passion. In this interview, she tells us what led her to choose show jumping, the emotions she experienced in competitions, and her thoughts on Meraviglia Riding boots. A journey of adrenaline, determination, and dreams to be fulfilled.
When did you start riding horses?
I started riding at the age of nine after attending a birthday party. That experience inspired me to try the sport, and since then, I have always loved it.
Why did you choose show jumping?
Show jumping was the first discipline I was taught. At the time, I also tried dressage since it helps a lot when it comes to jumping. However, it never gave me the same level of excitement and adrenaline that jumping did.
Do you remember the feeling of your first competition? What did you feel?
I remember feeling quite nervous but also very excited. At the end of the competition, I felt sad because I didn’t place, even though I had put in a lot of effort. However, I learned a lot from that experience, and it taught me that you don’t always win.
How did you discover Meraviglia Riding, and what do you think of the boots?
I found out about it through close friends who recommended the brand to us. I found the boots very comfortable from the start; they didn’t take long to break in, and after just a few days, they felt like sneakers.
Would you choose them again? If so, why?
Yes. They are very durable and of excellent quality. Also, when purchasing, they offer a wide variety of styles to choose from, and they provide impressive comfort.
What are your future plans as a rider?
I can’t say for sure what my future plans are, but I am certain that I want to continue in this sport and keep developing as a rider. At the moment, I am enrolled in the IB (International Baccalaureate) program, through which I plan to seek scholarships abroad related to the equestrian world and represent Costa Rica at an international level.
