Winnie Chow: “I’ve been riding for thirty years, but my passion began with cartoons”
Interview with a determined rider who fell in love with horses as a child and now trains in dressage with true passion
A passion for horse riding can start in the most unexpected ways. For Winnie Chow, 56, it all began with cartoons and movies she watched as a child. Since then, through ups and downs, she has continued to ride purely for personal enjoyment, and four years ago she began weekly lessons at the Tuen Mun Public Riding School. Today she tells us about her journey, the qualities she believes are essential for a rider, and why she chose Meraviglia Riding boots.
Winnie, what’s your last name, how old are you and what’s your discipline?
My last name is Chow, I’m 56 years old. I’m currently learning dressage at the Tuen Mun Public Riding School.
How long have you been riding? Are you part of an equestrian club?
I’ve been riding on and off for over 30 years. I’m not part of any equestrian club—I ride purely for personal enjoyment. I started taking weekly lessons about four years ago.
When and how did your passion for horse riding begin?
I think it all started when I was a child, watching cartoons or movies. I really wanted to ride a horse just like those characters did. Of course, my experience was very different when I actually began lessons. But despite the ups and downs, horse riding is still my number one favorite sport.
In your opinion, what are the most important qualities a rider should develop?
I believe a rider needs to develop a determined mindset, have confidence in themselves and in the horses, and above all, love the horses they ride.
How did you discover Meraviglia Riding, and what do you like about our boots?
